Welcome to the Doghouse!

Hey! My name is Peach. I am a female golden retriever and a trained guide dog. My Mom is the one you have been reading about on this website. In the fall of 2007 she did a crazy thing! She rode a tandem bicycle from Chattanooga to Memphis, Tennessee. She’s nuts, if you ask me, but don’t tell her I said that! I went along for the ride, but I spent most of my time in a motor home! Technically, she’s not my real “Mom”, but that story involves a kennel in Ohio with a faulty latch, and that is another whole chapter.

My pet peeves are cats with an attitude and dogs without a leash. I love long walks on the beach, as long as there's lots of trees or fire hydrants!

My Mom takes me every where she goes, but when she rides on her tandem bike I can’t go. I don’t like that, but she says I can't go and I have to do what she tells me. So, when she’s not around, I like chasing squirrels, playing with my squeaker toys, and stealing socks (but you didn’t hear that from me). When mommy is off riding her bike, I lay in front of the door so I can be the first to greet her when she gets home.

Mommy and I have been many places, but the place we go the most is to St. Jude hospital. All the nurses and doctors there love me , and I like making the sick kids happy. I really want to ride with mommy on the bike when she does this ride to Memphis, but they are saying it's best if I ride in the RV. Why is it my other family members get to ride with Mom but not me? I just don’t get that, do you? Oh well, that's something I will never understand. I guess that’s part of being a three year old puppy.

Hey, if you would like to have a guide dog, you can check out a few of the links below. They will take you to schools where dogs like me are trained. Give them a try. Well, I've got to run. There's a loose sock in the hall and I've got to get it.

Later, or as we dogs like to say,

Woof, woof,

Peach
